It’s hard to picture Facebook being afraid of much. But as the company has grown into a social juggernaut, so too have the opportunities for it to misstep.

Every company that files to go public is required to disclose to potential investors anything that could pose a risk to its business. With Facebook’s registration today for an initial public offering–likely to be the largest technology IPO in U.S. history and one of the biggest overall–the company has revealed what it sees as its greatest weaknesses.

Here’s a breakdown of Facebook’s biggest risk factors:

You. Facebook had 845 million monthly active users at the end of last year–probably you included–and is growing at a tremendous clip. But its growth rate will inevitably slow. As that happens, Facebook will have to keep its current users more and more engaged. That means if it doesn’t remain popular, it will die. In an apparent reference to former social champs Friendster and MySpace, Facebook noted that “other social networking companies that achieved early popularity have since seen their active user bases or levels of engagement decline, in some cases precipitously.” There’s no guarantee Facebook won’t befall the same fate.

Advertisers. The vast majority of Facebook’s revenue comes from advertising: 85% of it last year. But advertisers still aren’t completely comfortable with Facebook’s ad vehicles, some of which–like sponsored stories–are seen as experimental and unproven. If advertisers don’t stick around, Facebook has few other revenue options to fall back on.

Don Cornelius, the creator and longtime host of the groundbreaking music show ‘Soul Train,’ has died. He was 75.

According to the New York Times, the police responded to reports of gunshots at Cornelius’s Sherman Oaks home. They found Cornelius with a gunshot wound to the head that appeared to be self-inflicted, according to the Los Angeles County coroner.

A radio news announcer by trade, Cornelius began moonlighting at WCIU-TV in the 1960s. While there, he toyed with the idea of creating an African-American version of “American Bandstand,” Dick Clark’s influential music show, with live dancing five days a week. On August 17, 1970, the first episode of Soul Train premiered on the station, and by the following year, it was being syndicated in other markets.

“If I saw `American Bandstand’ and I saw dancing and I knew black kids can dance better; and I saw white artists and I knew black artists make better music; and if I saw a white host and I knew a black host could project a hipper line of speech – and I did know all these things [then it was reasonable to try],” he told the Associated Press in 1995.

Joe Green is most likely the Facebook roommate you’ve never heard of, but the Harvard graduate is trying to make a difference in the world, with friends.

Green lacks the name recognition of company co-creator Mark Zuckerberg , or even Eduardo Saverin, who famously helped launch Facebook, although he was there with the Internet entrepreneurs in that dorm where the social media powerhouse was born. And he walked away from it.

Green was one of Zuckerberg’s roommates at Harvard University in 2004, and was asked by the young man, who is now worth an estimated $17.5 billion, to drop out of the Ivy League school to join him in building the social media website, which is expected to file for an initial public offering this week.

After the two had gotten into some hot water with Harvard for a previous project — the “hot-or-not” website Facemash, the building of which was dramatized in Oscar-winning film “The Social Network ” — Green ultimately told Zuckerberg “no” because the school had threatened him with expulsion.

His decision not to join Zuckerberg could now be considered a $400 million mistake.

“We’d gotten into a little bit trouble with the previous project … and my father, who’s a professor, was not too happy with the prospect of me getting kicked out of school,” Green told ABC News. “Zuckerberg likes to make fun of my dad for this, but we’re still very close.”

Rather than following Zuckerberg and his team to Silicon Valley, Green followed his passion for politics and worked for John Kerry’s failed 2004 presidential campaign.

A Woods Cross, Utah, woman was arrested for allegedly forcing her 9-year-old son to walk alongside her car as she pulled him along by his belt and steered him toward school after he’d missed the school bus.

Police said the boy could have been hit by traffic driving in the opposite direction on the two-lane road and have turned the case over to the Davis County District Attorney’s office, which will decide whether to charge the mother with child endangerment.

“She was going at a slow enough speed that the child was able to keep pace with the vehicle,” Woods Cross Police Chief Greg Butler said. A neighbor phoned his department about what the mother was doing.

A police officer under investigation for sexual misconduct with a teenage minor was shot and killed while on duty by fellow officers Saturday as they tried to arrest him on California’s central coast, authorities said.

The officer was manning a DUI checkpoint when the shooting occurred shortly after 1 a.m. He was declared dead after emergency surgery at Marian Medical Center, Santa Maria police Chief Danny Macagni said in a statement.

The officer, a four-year Santa Maria department veteran, had just learned of the internal investigation of an alleged sexual relationship with a 17-year-old girl, and it became necessary to arrest him immediately, Macagni said.

“We had no choice,” Macagni said in video of an afternoon news conference posted by KCOY-TV. He said investigators had evidence “that demanded that we go out and take this officer off the street immediately.”

Supervising officers were sent to make a felony arrest, but he struggled with them when they arrived, first putting up a physical fight, then firing his gun but hitting no one, Macagni said.

“He chose to resist, he drew his weapon, a fight ensued, he fired his weapon,” the chief said.

Several officers came to help the police making the arrest, and one of them shot the suspected officer in the chest once, Macagni said.

GOP presidential candidate Rick Santorum explained his opposition to abortion even in cases of rape during an interview Friday, saying that women who face such circumstances should “make the best out of a bad situation.”

Asked by CNN’s Piers Morgan what he would do if his own daughter approached him, begging for an abortion after having been raped, Santorum explained that he would counsel her to “accept this horribly created” baby, because it was still a gift from God, even if given in a “broken” way.

“Well, you can make the argument that if she doesn’t have this baby, if she kills her child, that that, too, could ruin her life. And this is not an easy choice, I understand that. As horrible as the way that that son or daughter and son was created, it still is her child. And whether she has that child or she doesn’t, it will always be her child, and she will always know that,” Santorum said.

“And so to embrace her and to love her and to support her and get her through this very difficult time, I’ve always, you know, I believe and I think the right approach is to accept this horribly created — in the sense of rape — but nevertheless a gift in a very broken way, the gift of human life, and accept what God has given to you. As you know, we have to, in lots of different aspects of our life we have horrible things happen. I can’t think of anything more horrible, but nevertheless, we have to make the best out of a bad situation and I would make the argument that that is making the best.”
